About JAHQCC:
The Japan Alliance for High Quality Carbon Credit (JAHQCC), established in July 2023, is a private sector initiative focused on promoting, creating, and facilitating the distribution of high-integrity carbon credits. JAHQCC plays a crucial role in advancing global decarbonization efforts while addressing both climate and social challenges. Its founding members, including Ajinomoto, Japan Tobacco, and MUFG Bank, aim to develop innovative carbon markets, especially in Japan, and provide business opportunities to Japanese companies in these markets.

The JAHQCC Monthly is a key communication tool designed to deliver the latest insights on global carbon credit developments, regulatory frameworks, and impactful carbon projects to senior executives and members of the alliance.

About the Role:
The Editor will take charge of producing JAHQCC’s flagship publication , leading the editorial direction, content creation, and research for key topics. This role will collaborate with the Carbon Markets Division and manage a small team to ensure the timely production of high-quality content. The Editor will be critical in articulating JAHQCC’s mission and advancing the conversation on Japan’s carbon market and global carbon projects led by Degas. Contract-based role with potential for extension or transition into a long-term position.


Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Content Leadership: Oversee and produce the editorial calendar for the JAHQCC Monthly , ensuring alignment with global carbon market trends and JAHQCC’s goals.
  • Develop and curate content on global carbon credit news) and investment opportunities.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of 3-4 interns, assigning research topics and guiding content development. Ensure the team remains knowledgeable about global carbon markets and produces accurate, relevant content.
  • Copywriting and Editing (in English and Japanese): Craft compelling articles for JAHQCC’s audience, including senior executives.
  • Innovate with new content formats like infographics and case studies to engage the audience.
  • Research and Monitoring: Stay updated on global developments in carbon pricing, offsets, and voluntary/compliance markets.

You Could Be a Great Fit for This Role If You Have

  • 3-5 years of experience in content creation, editorial management, or journalism, preferably within the carbon markets, sustainability, or a related field.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines, while overseeing a team of interns.
  • Excellent copywriting and storytelling skills; ability to translate complex carbon market trends into compelling and informative content.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of carbon markets and nature-based solutions (Nbs).
  • Experience managing part-time interns or freelance writers is a plus.

Key Requirement

  • Proficiency in both Japanese AND English (written and spoken) is essential.

Location
This role is remote based in Japan with travel required to Degas’ regional offices, partner sites and HQ in Japan as needed.
